Ron "Trog" Spence Benefit Planned For Saturday, May 12

A benefit will be held for Ron “Trog” Spence of Cambridge Saturday, May 12, at the Henry County Fairgrounds in Cambridge. The ride will end at the benefit at the fairgrounds which is scheduled to begin at 5 p. m. and will feature a hog roast, band, live auction, silent auction, 50/50 raffle and more. Participants may register at the Cambridge American Legion Club from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. When participants sign in they will receive further instructions for the hunt to be held at sponsoring area bars. Spence was seriously injured in a car accident at German’s Corner on December 31, 2011, when a car traveling on the Atkinson-Galva blacktop failed to stop at a stop sign. Spence is currently undergoing rehab care at Heartland Health Care in Moline. The Cambridge American Legion will sell beer, pop and water. The meal will consist of pulled pork or beef brisket sandwiches, cheesey potatoes, baked beans, assorted chips and assorted desserts.
