KITTERY, Maine — Prom season can be expensive, so the Fair Tide Thrift Store offered a solution Saturday for those looking to save money — a Prom Dress Revival. The event, held at the Kittery Community Center on Rogers Road, offered previously worn, as well as some new, prom dresses and shoes at low prices. Also at the revival were five vendors, including Silpada Jewelry, We Care Cleaners and Zelia Lima Alterations. "Everything is at one place," said Andrea Thibeau, a freshman at Traip Academy who was modeling prom hairstyles at the event. Barbara McGaughey, director of social entrepreneurship at the store, said the idea for the revival came from her daughter, who held a similar event in Greenland five years ago. "People who don't have enough money can get a dress, look nice and feel like a princess," she said. McGaughey said 60 dresses were donated. "They're dresses that get worn once and are then thrown in the closet," McGaughey said.
